I've been interested in the V3-Alter for a long while. I like the look of the hardware, and unlike other cartridge dumpers it's able to adapt to other systems with add-on board.
When my arrived it sadly was missing the SD Card Reader, an issue from the manufacturer. When I brought it up to support the missing components were quickly shipped out. With everything I needed.
Learning the software and programming the Arduino wasn't easy especially since the default firmware didn't include Atari or Virtual Boy systems. But after some trial and error I was able to get it to work.
But then I ran into issues with the Lynx adapter. It looked fine. But the software bugged out. The seller again assisted and we were able to confirm it was a software issue not the hardware. For those trying at home. Go to an older firmware to see if it works. 14.7 is the newest firmware I tested which didn't just infinity looped AUDIN=0 BLOCK=2048.
Overall I am happy with my hardware even if the software is not perfect. I am also extremely pleased with the seller. They fixed error when it was noticed, and went above an beyond to assist me when I ran into trouble.
I received my Open Source Cartridge Reader V3-ALTER from Save the Hero Builders, and it arrived in perfect shape. The build quality is excellent, and everything was neatly packaged and ready to go.
I’ve been using it for a while now, and it works flawlessly. I haven’t had any issues at all, every cartridge I’ve tried has read and dumped perfectly. I’m genuinely amazed at what this little device can do. It handles so many different systems and features, and it’s really cool seeing all my old games backed up so easily.
Overall, I’m extremely happy with the purchase. It’s a fantastic piece of hardware that delivers exactly what it promises.
This is an amazing device. I can backup my cartridge collection and download my saves. The controls are very basic but works well. Saving to the microsd card makes the process simple. Also happy to have added the USB-C power connector rather than the microusb.
I originally bought the previous revision (USB micro) of this a few years ago, it recently broke and I was able to buy this new version. This one definitely fixes a lot of the design flaws of the USB micro version. The USB C port is much more stable on the board and having a reset button is also a nice feature to have.
The cart reader works flawlessly. The controls can feel clunky at first but that feeling quickly goes away. Just make sure that if you use an adapter for NES or other systems to pay attention to the orientation marked on the adapter.
Excellent product ! It does very well what it's mean to do. Shipping a bit costy for Canada, but it worth the Price.
Fantastic customer service. Went above and beyond to ensure the product was exactly what I needed. Could not be happier with my purchase.
The build quality is super high on this ROM dumper and I'm very happy with my purchase. I think the walnut board on it looks great and I've been real happy being able to back up my games.
Very well built high quality Game Gear adapter for the Open Source Card Reader. Includes the RetroSix Game Gear cartridge connector.
