🛠 STEP 1: Remove the PS VITA SLIM Motherboard

You will need a Phillips screwdriver to disassemble the PS VITA SLIM (PCH-2000). Be careful not to damage the internal flexible cables. For a disassembly guide, refer to iFixit.

🛠 STEP 2: Remove the Micro USB Port

Use Kapton tape on both sides of the connector to protect nearby chip components and remove the microphone foam.
Carefully desolder the USB-B connector, avoiding surrounding components, and clean the board with ethanol or similar solvent.

🛠 STEP 3: Enlarge the Micro USB Port on the VITA Board

Since the USB-C connector is wider than Micro USB, it will not fit the original port as-is. Gradually file both sides of the connector hole using a metal file.
Check the fit frequently as you go, making sure the USB-C fits snugly.
* Keep the corners at a right angle (90 degrees). If rounded, the USB-C connector may not sit flush.

🛠 STEP 4: Install the USB-C Connector

Fold the flexible board along the dotted line. Apply Kapton tape to the side that touches the VITA's chip and the opposite side shown in the photo. (Also on reverse side)

Align the pads and temporarily fix the anchor pads, then apply flux.
Confirm the overall alignment before soldering. Solder the opposite side pads next.
Finally, solder the center pads in order.
* Make sure to add extra solder to both outer pads.

Ensure that all 4 legs of the USB-C connector on the folded flexible board are flush with the motherboard, and then solder them directly to the PS VITA’s motherboard.

🛠 STEP 5: Modify the PS VITA Shell

Enlarge the hole to fit the USB-C shape. Also, shave down the surrounding yellow-framed area to prevent interference.

🛠 STEP 6: Test and Reassemble

Connect the USB-C port to your PC to test charging and data transfer. Then, reassemble the PS VITA following the guide on iFixit.
